Taylor Swift is Taylor Alison Swift. She was born December 13, 1989 in Pennsylvania's West Reading. Swift has been a pop/country singer-songwriter for more than 20 years. Swift's stories of romantic love in the midst of heartbreak and young love have gained her widespread popularity during the 21st Century. Swift showed an interest in music from a young age, and quickly moved through roles in the children's theater until her first performance before a crowd of thousands. In 2011, Swift at the age of 11, performed The Star-Spangled Banner during a Philadelphia 76ers' basketball match. In the year following, she began to write songs of her own. Taking her inspiration from country music artists such as Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks (now the Chicks) Swift crafted original material that reflected her experiences of being a tween and feeling alienated. In the year 13 Swift's parents decided to sell their property in Pennsylvania to move to Hendersonville Tennessee so she could spend more time to wooing labels from the country in nearby Nashville.
